Original acrylic painting on canvasboard panel, measuring 18" x 14". Currently unframed. This painting follows on a little from the other water painting here, "Cascades", being in similar colours. An observation of seawater on coastal rocks was used as the starting point for this painting, which was initially intended to be a little more abstracted....but in the end came out as a dark, moody picture with movement and deep colours. I like canvasboard for it's stiffness and resilience to palette-knife painting (I am always scared to death of sticking a palette-knife point through canvas); and the colours seem to work out brighter because the surface does not suck up quite so much fluid. I would like to get a frame for this work at some point. (This picture also over at my other site, AbstractsWork).
