Oil on canvas, measuring 30cm x 24cm (this is a metric size canvas-panel). Mute swans are commonly seen walking around the fields on the Somerset Levels, picking at grass. In this picture, originally viewed at West Sedgemoor, a group of swans are busy feeding in late afternoon during winter. A typical willow tree dominates the foreground, while buildings and more distant features tend to fade into the haze.
