Original acrylic painting on standard-depth canvas; measuring 24 x 16 inches (60cm x 40cm); and 20mm depth. Unframed. This painting is derived from an iris flower, seeking out the flowing lines and veins within the main petals and creating a landscape-effect abstract with the curves and markings. Deep blues,transparent purple and blue-greens have been used, along with a pearlescent-lustre paint to create the flowing ribbons of colour across the canvas. The yellow stripe points towards what seems to be a deep tunnel, plunging into the purple-blue glow, creating a portal to a space beyond the picture. Textured paint has been used lightly, on the yellow and white central areas, to give added depth and to contrast with the flatter ribbons of colour.
