Pastel pencils with some harder pastels, on dark green Canson card, hand-brushed with Art Spectrum clear pastel primer. Size 11" x 9" (28cm x 22cm approx). Not yet framed.
A slightly challenging work, since my personal range of pastel pencils is still a bit limited, but it was enough to provide me with what I needed. The pencils provided more control than standard pastel-sticks over small details, but I did not want to include every last vein and pollen-grain. The white daffodil is one of only a few that appears each spring, tucked away by the compost-heap. They retain their snowy-whiteness for just a few days and then go brown very quickly. The textured ground was not kind to the pencil-points, but sharpeners take care of that. The background of green unpastelled card actually looked fine as a support-colour, but in the end I filled it over with small hatchlines of red-violet, blue-violet and mid-green.
Price: to come later.
